Dr. Agata Gurzawska to Present at the Science Summit During the 79th United Nations General Assembly
Dr. Agata Gurzawska from TRI IE will be representing the VERITY project at the Science Summit during the 79th United Nations General Assembly on September 11, 2024.
Her participation follows her invaluable contributions during the OPERAS event in June 2024, particularly at the “TrustOn 2024 – Tackling Disinformation” workshop held at the Royal Library of Belgium in Brussels.
About the Science Summit
The Science Summit during the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) is a premier global event that unites thought leaders, scientists, policymakers, and innovators to address the most pressing scientific and technological challenges of our time. Serving as a dynamic platform, the Summit showcases cutting-edge research, facilitates knowledge sharing, and fosters inclusive international collaboration.
This year, special emphasis will be placed on the Africa Science Leadership Coalition, launched at the UN Civil Society Conference in May 2024, to promote African leadership in science policy decision-making. The Summit aims to bridge the gap between science and policy, ensuring that scientific advancements inform the creation and implementation of sustainable and inclusive global policies.
VERITY’s Participation
In a joint session with IANUS, POIESIS. (our two sister projects) and COALISI, Dr. Gurzawska will present key findings on fostering trust in the digital sphere. She will be part of a roundtable titled “How can we enhance trust through quality content in a people-centric internet?”. The panel includes other experts such as Thomas Parisot, Suzanne Dumouchel, and Declan Kirrane, with Gabi Lombardo from EASSH moderating the discussion.
This session marks a significant milestone in our collective journey towards a human-centric and trustworthy digital future. The discussion will focus on innovative strategies to enhance trust through a multi-stakeholder approach, addressing disinformation and promoting a resilient digital environment.
