Prof. Kalypso Iordanou presented findings from the VERITY’s focus groups in Copenhagen

We are thrilled to share that Professor Kalypso Iordanou, a distinguished speaker from UCLan Cyprus, one of our VERITY Project partners, presented groundbreaking insights at the Seminar: “The Hybridization of Conspiracy Theories, Misinformation, and Extremism on Social Media” hosted at the University of Copenhagen on May 16th. The event was organized as part of the Horizon Europe-project @SMIDGE, in collaboration with the University of Copenhagen and De Montfort University, Leicester.

Kalypso’s presentation, titled “Journalists’ perspective on the challenges for promoting trust in science and fighting misinformation and conspiracy theories” illuminated findings from focus groups organized in different European countries with journalists, in the context of VERITY project, shedding light on the critical role of journalism in combating misinformation.

This seminar explored the intricate interplay between extremism, misinformation, and conspiracy theories in the digital age. From dissecting online narratives to understanding the impact of algorithmic infrastructure, the discussions were both enlightening and imperative for addressing contemporary challenges.

Let’s continue working together to foster a digital landscape rooted in truth, trust, and resilience against misinformation.
